Game Review (written by Rdwebster) Added on: 01/20/2007
Wasteland one of the best RPG games out there. Starting out in the post nuclear war era the RPG allows you to control 7 different players. The game also offers you many different puzzles to solve. Personally I have been playing this game every since it came out for the commodore 64 system in 1986. My 64 gave up the ghost a long time ago if it wasn’t for sights like this one I would have to have given up on the game.
You have to start out in ranger HQ and work your players up to a level that you are comfortable with.
After that there are all sorts of fun things you can do besides follow the story plot of the game. There is also a wasteland reset program out there for people that want to do the game over again with their current players. I will only tell you to search the web for the program it is free and commonly available. In this game you fight every thing from lizards to fusion powered octotron robots. The over riding task for you to accomplish in this game is to destroy base Cochise the home for a very nasty set of robots and an insane mainframe computer.
At the end you find out that the ranger HQ new about this all the time but if they were to have told you this it would have meant your instant death by the robots from Cochise. It is a turn based dos program but that is kind of the fun thing about it. In the game you can actually do the whole thing backwards if you wanted to. The weapons in the game are many and varied. Starting with your fist and going up to the ultimate weapon in the game a meson cannon.
The meson cannon’s are few and far between. The original game “unless I am mistaken” only has 3 that you can find in various places. Also armour ranging from your own skin to power armour “from 0 to 14 armour rating” there are also many towns and cities to visit. Starting out from a Boys town like place, one of the first adventures, to a town that a mad robot controls every living thing in the city. Over all the best original stories and one of the best RPG games ever developed. In my humble opinion probably the best game ever made.
