Wizardry 6: Bane of the Cosmic Forge is the sixth game in the Wizardry series. It is a role playing game that was released in 1990 for DOS. The Cosmic Forge is actually a magical pen that can control time and space.
In this first person role playing game, you will be in charge of leading a group of characters. At the start of the game you will find yourself trapped inside a castle. The Magic pen can be found inside the castle. Whatever is written with the cosmic forge becomes true.
You need to explore your surroundings to find out what happened to the inhabitants of the castle. You will have to explore the castle and find your way out of it and into the mountain and the other areas surrounding the castles. Like modern role playing games, the game allows you freedom to explore the surroundings and interact with items. There are pop up dialogue boxes to help you interact with monsters and other creatures in the screen.
Some of the creatures in the game were derived from Greek Mythology while there are also characters that were adapted from other sources like the Caterpillar from the popular children’s novel Alice in Wonderland.
The story of the game will unfold to you as you
explore the game. You will even find that there are special twists to the story which will help make the game a complete adventure. These twists and unexpected turns are also what make the game fun to play over and over. Some of the things that will reveal themselves to you as you play also make the game more challenging in some parts.
There are characters you meet who will give you valuable information regarding the Magic Forge. There are also characters you will meet who will give you not just information but also items which you can use in the game. There are even items you can use not just in this Wizardry game but also in the seventh and the eighth version.
There are three possible endings to the game which I will no longer divulge so you can discover them yourself. You can play the game over and over and change the decisions you make in the game so that you can experience the three different outcomes.
The game is a fun, adventure that will not get you bored or frustrated. It is one of the most addictive role playing games I have ever played and can totally compete with newer RPG.
