Let me take you back to a time in which 2-D graphics were the ultimate in video game technology. Many of us don't remember playing the Atari, but many us do remember when the NES reined supreme. Zelda as I remember was one of the first RPGs, it offered free movement thought the world, not only that it let you choose the path in which you could defeat the tougher level then the easier one. Of course this would often result in a game over, but if you would study the movement of the enemies then you could figure out a pattern in which to attack.
In this new version that I have downloaded and have been playing not much has changed. A few changes in the new version are that it offers you six files in which you can save the different stages in which you reached. At first you can you have five pre saved files to choose from. Each one of these offers you something different ranging from a different back ground to a completely different story line in which you will have to beat the dungeons in order.
I personally didn't like that fact that I had only one path to follow rather than to open ended story line that the original developers were trying to bring to the Nintendo Entertainment System.
One thing I remember about this game from when I was younger was that I always thought that I was playing as Zelda but now that have played this game again I now realize that Zelda was the name of the Princess that I was trying to save from the villain Ganon. In my belief Zelda completely opened the door for such great games as Fantasy Star On Line, of course all of the Final Fantasy game including my personal favorite Final Fantasy Seven, but then again most of the new role playing games don't really offer anything new most of them have the same concept in which a hero such as Link or Cloud are faced with an ordeal to save a damsel in distress.
I think that these new developers should really go back to the basics before they try to use our new technology in to the newer role playing games. I personally think that the 2-D graphics in Zelda along with the open path story line make this game one of the best ever made. Many games from the time of the Nintendo Entertainment System don’t offer the challenge that this game offers. I would recommend this game to people who remember the good old days of 2-D graphics, but also those who don't even remember the times in which there was no such thing as 3-D graphic.
