PC
Genre:  Simulation    |     Year: 1996    |     Publisher: Mindscape     |     Developer: Rowan
Game Review (written by Rebecca) Added on: 01/03/2008
Air Power was released in 1996 had most of its charm back in those days but as we know airship combat games and flight simulation games have made vast improvements since then but Air Power for a free download is a great way to pass some time and it can be very interesting.
First off the whole idea behind the game is good; you are in some alternate world where zeppelins, blimps whatever you want to call them are the rulers of the skies.

First off the whole idea behind the game is good; you are in some alternate world where zeppelins, blimps whatever you want to call them are the rulers of the skies. These giants of the air release battalions of enemy planes who are out to take you down. You are the wing commander and pilot trying to defeat the emperor so that you can rule over Karanthia.

control of an area in Karanthia and then choose which area is best suited for you to attack next. With three computer opponents, Air Power can get pretty intense rather quickly and they can easily gang up on you. You have a couple ways to play the game with diplomacy or force or a good blend of both but for me force is usually the better option diplomacy is a choice of sending a negotiator to form an alliance with unaffiliated cities and the bottom line is if you either give the right questions and answers or you might as well be prepared to fight. I find it hard to see the correlation behind the whole diplomacy thing, so force is good.
Some of the drawbacks of Air Power are no matter how much you practice or how good you get you seem to always be running a bit sluggish and your plane rocks just a tad, it seems that you are always trying to maintain control while the enemy is surrounding you opening fire. The graphics are a little on the plain side but they are good, sound effects are alright too but probably the best part is the music.
There is good to be said about the game and I have enjoyed playing it many times the story line. It’s the best of the simulation games and it is worth a try.
