An amazing emulator. The first of its kind.
Back in the beginning of the 90s, Apache helicopters were the main theme for many games. Sudden Strike, Jungle Strike, Apache, and of course Apache Longbow.
Like its predecessor, Apache, Apache Longbow is a Helicopter Simulator, with loads of action characteristics. This simulator is still very realistic, and the graphics back at its time were competing masterpieces like Falcon and F22.
The game has various options, from a campaign to simple training. Although the campaign was a bit short, the missions were always full of action. The difficulty is moderate, although, the hard option will require full pilot skills of you in order not to meet the ground!
Since there are not many helicopter simulators from that era, Apache Longbow is the best option for someone who wants a taste of flight action with something different than the classic fighter plane simulators.
To all the flight simulator lovers out there, this is a must have for your collections.

I played Apache Longbow many years ago with my brother when we had the old Pentium 90. We were using DOS a lot for games and Apache Longbow is one of them. I will always remember Apache Longbow for the degree of difficulty involved in piloting the many helicopters you can choose from.
I was not the kind of person that played it a lot because my brother took full control of the PC but I did get a few opportunities to experience a great combat simulation game that was quite realistic for its time. The main thing that caused a bit of trouble for me was trying to land an attack helicopter onto an aircraft carrier or even on ground and I never really understood it until I continued to play it in my latter years of gaming. Watching my brother amazed me to see what he could do in the game and the skills he developed playing it. After watching him I thought that was qualified enough to fly a real Apache. We used the old Microsoft Sidewinder 3d Pro to give it a more realistic experience as if we were actually flying a chopper. The controls were quite difficult as it would be in a real helicopter and therefore it was really easy for me to fail every mission because of the degree of difficulty involved in flying these destructive machines. I also found it difficult to avoid enemies because I am the kind of gamer who rushes in with an arsenal of destructive weapons and unleashing hell upon the enemy.
I was never able to avoid SAM sites or helicopter strikes but that was what made the game great. I believe that a game like Apache Longbow gives the gamer a completely new experience to flight simulation and combat and it actually tells us that aircraft combat is not as easy as it looks. The controls in the game does take a lot of getting used to but once you are familiar with what you need to do it becomes an exciting gaming experience for anyone who loves the genre. This game was quite unique for it's time as you experience action in 3d instead of the action you experienced in Jungle Strike.
Overall this game is a classic and a must for anyone who enjoys flight and combat simulators. It is at least a start for those who are interested in joining the air force as it gives them an idea of what to expect and what they are required to do in any situation they are involved. I recommend this title as one of the greatest games of all time. 10/10
