Game Review (written by Eric) Added on: 01/23/2008
This is a first-person action game that was released in 1996. It is a very big game that involves having to finish 60 missions and then stopping an evil plot to be able to successfully complete the game.
You will play the role of Emerald “Dead Eye” Flint, an underwater mercenary who has to engage in trading in a futuristic world. The game is actually set in the twenty-seventh century where war has cause the destruction of most of the lands and people have taken to living in civilizations under the deep blue sea.
Initially people only took on the sea to find more resources to survive but because of all the chaos and catastrophes that happened in the world, the lands were left a complete wasteland. Only those who could pay were saved and allowed to join the colonies underwater. Those who did not have any resources were left on the surface of the earth. It wasn’t long before minerals, space and other resources were also being competed for among those under the sea.
There are initially four ships that you can use. Each ship has its specifications. As you complete more missions and earn more money you can purchase bigger and better ships. As you go through the game you will also need to interact with hundreds of characters so you can trade, get information and move forward in the game. The way you interact with the different characters will have an effect on your game.
At the start of the game, you will need to perform different tasks and complete missions to gain back the respect and trust of you boss. These missions serve as the training grounds for the gamer. With these missions you will learn to properly control the sub to be able to do well in the later missions.
This game is very challenging especially for inexperienced gamers but it is completely absorbing and addictive. There will come a point in the game when the goals are a bit confusing but it won’t stop you from continuing with the game.
The game may be huge but it’s highly enjoyable so it is likely you will be spending many hours on this game trying to finish it. This is a game that you can download and enjoy during long weekends. I just need to warn you though that this game can cause you to lose sleep as that is what I experienced with the game when I first downloaded it. I just couldn’t stop playing.
