Game Review (written by Guyb82) Added on: 05/07/2007
This game is pretty good for someone looking for a geopolitical game set in the modern middle east. I have myself searched for other games of this variety and there are very few out there.
Out of the handful of geopolitical simulations out there, only Shadow President on MS-DOS comes close to matching the gameplay elements on display here. The modern-day equivalents - Superpowers 1 & 2, Economic war and user-made mods for WW2 games like Hearts of Iron are often buggy and fail to deliver an element of realism. The graphics are utilitarian, displaying a simple map of the middle east with basic icons representing military positions.
Your job, as Prime Minister of Israel, is to maintain the security of your country. You do this by maintaining a strong military presence - you can purchase a variety of weapons systems from foreign countries or the black market - and placing your troops accordingly on the borders of various potential enemies. You have to monitor the Israel-Palestinian conflict, either taking a heavy handed or softly-softly approach depending on the circumstances. How you deal with Israel Arabs influences world opinion (which affects which weapons you can purchase) and upsets your Arab neighbors. From the start of the game the race is on between Israel and it's neighbors to create an atom bomb. You have to monitor the political and military positions of your potential enemies and place both military and diplomatic assets accordingly.
Overall this game stands out purely because it is the only game out there that offers both a political and military simulation of the Arab-Israeli conflict. Neither the political or the military aspects of the game require in-depth knowledge so even a casual gamer could pick up and play this title easily. There is a certain random element that means you can keep replaying the game, although this can sometimes be irritating when you find Jordanian troops entering your capital city after placing all your military in the right place.
Overall you should probably aim to conquer Lebanon, then Jordan, then Syria, then Egypt and nuke the rest of them. By the way the game crashes when you complete it so watch out.

It has a good balance of ideas and is not too tedious.
