When you are in the anarchic systems you best watch out for pirates.

There are different areas where you can trade depending on how risky you would like to be. You are able to trade in safe areas or be risky and trade with the anarchic systems. When you are in the anarchic systems you best watch out for pirates. To save on fuel costs you can buy a fuel scoop and travel near the sun. You also have the option to raid other ships, but be careful doing so or you will get a bad reputation and the police will come after you.
When
you dock on a space station you will be able to do your trading while your ship is upgraded with better weapons, shields and other useful equipment. There are eight different galaxies for you to travel to, each having hundreds of planets to discover.
The main goal of the game is to get your reputation up to the highest level, which is elite. The only ways you can do this is by making good trades and ship your cargo between planets with no difficulty. Each planet that you will travel to has its own unique aspects about it. Some planets will be technologically advanced and others will be primitive planets, which are planets that produce raw materials. Each planet as well has a political system. Some of the planets are democratic and allow free trade and others can be quite hostile and attack you right when you try getting to their planet.
When you first start playing the game it is best to avoid confrontation with other ships. Your ship can be destroyed quite easily at the beginning of the game, but the best trades are normally at the dangerous planets so some risk taking might need to happen.
The way the game plays out depends on you entirely. If you want to just be a good trader then you can do that and start working towards your elite reputation. You can also take the bad route and become a space pirate and steal cargo from other ships. No matter which way you choose you will still be working towards making more money and earning your fame. Throughout the game you will receive predetermined missions. Your mission requirements for Elite can vary depending on the level you are attempting to complete, for example to transport a package between planets or assassin certain pirates you are asked to, both varying in difficulty.
The game graphics and sounds are not over the top, but are not under average. For the time the game was created the graphics did what they had to do to get the point across and make the game look like an actual game. The sounds are pretty much just a bunch of blips. There is only one instance in the entire game where there is music and that is in the first screen.
Elite is a great game if you enjoy adventurous flight simulations. This game can have very complex tasks to take part in making it difficult at times. Once you figure out how you are going to play the game it will become far easier and soon your reputation points and money will start to roll in quite quickly. Elite is a very addicting game and a great game for the time it was created. So many different things to do make this game better than most games created in its time. You won’t be disappointed with Elite.
