Game Review (written by Congpku) Added on: 12/21/2006
F-117 impressed me too much since it's the first game I ever played on PC. Unlike the present big games which often require more than 512 M RAM and 2 G hard disk space, old F-117 runs very smoothly even on a 386 or 286 computer. As a simulation, the game is simple and easy to play. The flight model is straight-forward and it has auto pilot function. You don't worry about where you fly. The graphics are passable and acceptable at that time, and the controls are so simple (less than 15 keys are needed to control the plane, e.
g., taxiing, accelerating, cruising, landing, locking target and firing) that even a novice can get used to it in several minutes. This is the reason why F-117 became my first PC game and today I still like old F-117 game.
There are only several types of weapons you can use, including air-to-air missiles, air-to-ground bombs and machine gun. So it's not difficult to kill targets. I even, in my first play of this game, shot down three enemy planes by air-to-air missile, one enemy fighter by machine gun and destroyed a ground target by bombs. This game is amazing and attracted a lot of guys in my class to play it.
Surely, this game also has some drawbacks. One is the graphics. Though the graphic in F-117 is more delicate, subtle and beautiful than that in F-19 game, the scene in F-117 still looks a little bit rough and unreal. I understand that at that time a slow CPU in 286 or 386 computers could not provide any graphic engine to accelerate the graphic display. Another one is the speech communication. Almost there’s no communication between F-117 and airbase or other airplanes. Also the sound quality, including alerting sound, missile-firing sound and machine gun sound, is bad. It’s not clear and the sound is like from a remote space, but not from the airplanes. The map is also a little problem. It’s too small and not clear. Maybe this problem was also caused by the computer performance at that time.
I’m wondering if the company would like to update the F-117 game today and make it more beautiful and perfect to let players play the game under Windows system. Though today some new flight simulation games have attracted most of players’ interest, I think there are still a lot of guys like me who always be a big fan of F-117 and would like to play it.

For an old games, this one plays very well. The graphics are passable, and the controls are simple enough. I would recommend it.
