Ford Simulator 5 is the fifth game in a series commissioned by the Ford Motor Company. There were five games in the series and the six games were released between 1989- 1995 with a single game being released annually. Ford Simulator 5 like all the other games in the series is meant to be a marketing tool for the car company.
All six games had the same game play and only the car models and graphics were changed. This means if you have one version of the game, there’s really not much sense getting copies of the five others.

The game is repetitive
but it is fun. The main menu of the game features all the Ford Models released in the year. The menu features all the profiles of every car. It’s like a cool little computerized car catalog so consumers can see what Ford has to offer. When you start playing the game you will be presented with a list of about fifteen cars that you can drive to reach your destination. You can choose between the beginner and the advanced level. You really have a simple goal, you need to get to your destination and overcome all the obstacles along the way.
You can get into accidents and crash. When you crash you will see a “POW!” in the screen. After receiving four “POW!s” you will die. There are also policemen that will issue you tickets when you do any traffic violations like when you go too fast.
There are other elements in the game that make it more interesting like you can stop over at gas stations to fill up on gas or to get a drink, a map or other things that you can use on your trip. You win the game when you reach your destination.
The graphics of the game is colorful and cartoony but it’s not entirely impressive. But since the game was released in 1994, it’s pretty understandable that the graphics of the game is dated. The controls are easy to learn but the cars aren’t the smoothest to control. The controls are a bit sluggish and take some getting used to.
The game is average and is not really addictive but it’s worth trying out. Don’t think of it as a simulator game but a simple driving adventure game.
