Life and Death
This is quite an unusual game. It puts you in the surgeon position. You will visit patients and listen to their complaints and perhaps give them an x-ray. Then decide weather they have appendicitis or some other problem decide their treatment and either send them on their way or perform surgery. You can pick which Doctors you would like in surgery with you, but be careful who you choose some work better with others.
The surgery is very in-depth and one wrong move and you’re sent to the class room to learn from your mistakes. If you’re like me it takes many tries to finally perform a perfect surgery, but you will enjoy the accident slashing that send your patient to the
morgue. Eventually this does get old I will admit, and until you get it figured out it can become quite frustrating. Just remember to turn on the anesthesia cutting an awake patient may cause them “excruciating pain.” The operation is definitely the most difficult part of the game if you cut in the wrong direction too deep or say cut open the colon you could kill the patient. As you complete surgeries they become increasingly difficult.
Do not get discouraged no matter how many patients you play “Jack the Ripper” with, you’re still allowed to operate. You are required to debrief on your surgery afterwards though. The supervisor will give you hint on what went right or wrong in your surgery to help you out. I am sorry to report though I am not sure if there is an end I never got past the second level.
The graphics are decent for a game of its age I would give it 5, only that because each patients body looks the same regardless to age, gender, or skin colour. I would give Interactivity around 3 because in surgery you will have many steps to complete and the game itself gives no information on how this all works so unless you have a game manual or use a walkthrough you’re pretty much screwed. Sound pretty much sucked it was very repetitive and I ended up turning it off. I would give it a 2 it had the beeping, and flat-line noises from the EKG and death march if you killed your patient. Over all I would give it a 4. All in all I enjoyed it, and I would suggest it for those who like medical like games.
