Game Review (written by Gwd123) Added on: 02/02/2008
The game is short, deceptively simple, easy to learn, and impossible to master. Graphically simple, the game consists of a grid of squares and a number of oil companies who search for oil on the grid. Tactics involve buying shares in different companies and identifying potential takeover targets and future exploitation areas.
Although simple, let it not be thought that this game is deceptively addictive. In a manner akin to Minesweeper, the staple windows game, a game that on first view appears to have the appeal of Nazi war propaganda, this game needs time and thought to truely conquer. Various tactics can beat the game though on the highest levels it takes a business mind to really win.
In summary, a very polarised game, highly strategic and complex on one level yet outrageously basic and in many ways subservient in other ways to modern computer games. This game is one for strategic thinkers, mathematically inspired people and would probably best left avoided by those seeking arcade shoot 'em ups and old school copies of 'Rise of the Triads' and other such octane thrillers. If it sounds like the game for you, be prepared to waste many hours of your life.
