Game Review 1 (written by Avaleblanc) Added on: 09/10/2006
Gainax games have done it again. This is the most entertaining nurture simulation game I have ever played. Originally an Asian game, it is the only one in the series of four to be translated in English. You are a swordsman who adopts a child. Your challenge is to raise a child successfully.
Relatively simple concept, but has proven to be much more difficult. You raise the child from the age of 10-18 years olds. Everything you decide will affect the out come of the child’s end result.
Birth month and blood type determine the starting characteristics of your child. The hints allow you to comprehend the game very quickly, and there is not much you need to know if you are a first time player. You must increase skill points to allow the child to gain experience in tasks. Keeping up health was the most challenging for me. I found it hard to keep the balance between increasing skill and personal health of the child. Eventually all of the initial problems I had faced were resolved through gaining an understanding of the mechanics of the game.
Full of wonderful anime graphics you will never want to look away from the screen. I could not take myself away from the game. I was playing it for so many hours of the day that I actually dreamt about it (don’t lie to yourself everyone has done it…).
When I finally finished the game with a successful result (and believe me it takes a couple of tries) I actually felt like I had accomplished something great. I know what you are thinking “wow this girl has a lot of time on her hands”. It’s true. I do, but you will feel the exact same way about this game when you start to play it. Believe me! I just can’t express how much I enjoyed this game. Since I have played Princess Maker 2, I went out and bought the entire Princess Maker series.
The game contains well developed characters and plot lines. Great sound and music accompany the role-playing adventure. There are many clones of this game that you can find all over the internet, but as they say the originals are always the best. With many challenging tasks, challenges, and options you have hours upon hours of fun and adventure.
Hint: Read all of the pop-ups if you are a first-time player. They prove to be very helpful in the primary understanding of the game.
| | | | | Game Review 2 (written by Hateitxoxo) Added on: 09/01/2006 The game Princess Maker 2 is a great game and is very addicting. In the game, you are responsible for what the daughter does, where she works, and if she goes to school. The point is, you are responsible for her every move. Where she works influences on her lifestyle and the ending. Like, if she works at the cabaret, she will end up with a rather bad ending and might be a bondage queen. If you have her work as a cook, she will be a cook for her career and she will be skilled for the festival that comes up in the fall. The festival is a thing where your daughter competes against other people and you have four options for what your daughter can do.
Combat, dancing, cooking, and painting… Now, for these, you need to go to school, except for cooking which you just work to gain skill for that. For combat, you need to take fencing and fighting. For dancing, you take dance class and its good if you tale protocol to make her more refined, which also helps with the palace. Lastly, for painting, all you need to do is take art class and poetry (writing), but it’s better if you take dance class along with it. In each of these options, your daughter gets a rival. For combat, its either Anita Cassandra or Wendy Lachesis, depending on if you are more skilled with a sword or magic.
For cooking, you get a girl named Marthia Shareweare. She is the nicest rival your daughter gets. The other ones are a bit rude when your daughter meets them. For dancing, the rival is a girl named Patricia. She is the snottiest one since she thinks she is the most popular person in town (well, game). Some people may not notice this, but you don't get a rival for painting. You end up having to take dance because of the rival, which in this case, is Patricia. If you don't face the rival, your daughters stress rises, which is the last thing you want.
Now, I should have said these first. Your daughter can end up rebelling on you, so don't over stress her, and it’s nice if you buy her stuff, but don't spoil her. Also, she can get sick, so be careful. Your daughter starts at the age of ten and the game ends right when she turns 18. Plus, usually what you make her blood type reflects on her actions. I completely recommend this game to any at least the age of 13, because of some of the sexual reference for her job options.
