Shadow president is a Presidential simulation, that takes place in the mid-1990's, just before the fall of the Berlin Wall. It's your job to make all the presidential decisions necessary to keep the world in a state of balance, and keep your job.
Simply put, you are the president, and have to make all sorts of presidential decisions on what to do. You can make all sorts of commands, such as attempting to strengthen diplomatic relations with a country, condemn them in front of the whole world, or even nuke the hell out of them! The gameplay CAN get somewhat tedious, while just waiting for some world event to happen, but the game is pretty fun, nonetheless.
If you get too bored, you can always just save your progress, then go on a nuking rampage... :P (seeing how far you go before being impeached... or even assassinated)
The plot is pretty straightforward. You are the president in the mid 1990's. And you just have to deal with all the world events as they come along. There's not really much else to describe.
Graphics-wise, expect early 90's graphics. It's not bad, but if you're really used to awesome graphics, it may just slightly turn you off to this game. Of course, since you are downloading from here anyway, you probably don't care more about eye candy than good gaming anyway... :P Sound-wise, you may run into some problems if it can't find the sound drivers
it needs, but considering the age of this game, you're probably not missing out on too much.
I found this game VERY addicting, and believe it has a LOT of replayability potential. The potential lies in all the different things you can do. Use diplomacy the whole way through, take a forceful approach, or just take no prisoners and take over the world! All the decisions lie in your hands, which is what makes this game so fun.
I recommend DL this game immediately. It’s not so old that hopefully you can get it working on windows xp, given you have a good dos emulator like dosbox or whatever. It really is a treat that this site has this available. It was almost unheard of when it came out. I happened to pick it up for a few bucks in the discount bin of my local Gamestop. I don't know where you could find it today outside of the free download here.
