Game Review 1 (written by Tsr488) Added on: 09/14/2006
SimTower is an engaging, interesting, and addictive game for the PC. I have to admit that once I started playing I was hooked for hours. The basic premise is that the player must build and maintain a tower containing condos, offices, restaurants, movie theaters, hotel rooms, and more. The challenge lies in keeping the tower running smoothly and the resident’s content.
The elevator system is the backbone of the game; in fact, the program was originally written as a test platform for elevator designs. You are allowed up to 24 shafts for regular, express, and service elevators. The regular elevators can span up to 30 floors per shaft and usually carry people to their destinations from one of the lobbies that the player can build every 15 floors. Express elevators stop only on lobby floors so that people entering the tower can quickly reach the nearest lobby to their destination. Stairs and elevators are also available for transit, but keeping your elevators running smoothly is the main concern. It can be amusing to watch people turn shades of red as they wait for an elevator, but over time they will get too stressed by the wait and move out.
As your tower grows, it increases its star rating, from one to five stars and thence to Tower rating. At each star level the player receives more building possibilities, including restaurants, party halls, metro stations, and eventually a cathedral. For some ratings, you must receive a V.I.P. in your tower and ensure that their stay is pleasant to gain their blessing.
Condos provide instant income but generate no further money for the player. Offices provide quarterly rent and over time pay for themselves and then some. Hotel rooms provide daily income to your tower and in large numbers can be a huge financial boon, but make sure to keep them clean with housekeeping services or else they will be overrun by pest infestation. Double hotel rooms and suites are available on later levels and generate more income.
The game becomes slightly repetitive in the latter stages but will continue to entertain a micromanager like myself, since the game becomes very complex when many tenants take up residence in your tower. Keeping them happy is the backbone of the game.
| | | | | Game Review 2 (written by Ccml5679) Added on: 07/25/2006 Sim Tower was one of the first simulator games on the market. I have played all the simulator classics and have found Sim Tower to be tied for the funniest of them all. Sim City for the Super Nintendo is the other game tied with it. Sim Tower is a computer based game. It is easy to learn and play. My 7 year old son loves to play also.
Each game starts the same but the way you create or build your tower is up to you. It is also up to you as to how many areas you include. By this I mean, the number of fast food areas, shops, restaurants, halls, theaters, hotel rooms, offices and living areas. Three different hotel rooms are available; single room, double room or suite. The types of restaurants, shops and fast food areas are in a specific order but you can not choose which area you wan to put in. For example, if you want a fast food area then you build one and you could get Chinese, Japanese, burger, ice cream or cafe. If you want a specific type built you would have to build and then destroy until you got the area you were wanting.
The game begins with a plot of land and the ability to build a lobby, floor, stairs, elevator, office, fast food, and living quarters. As your tower grows so does the items you can build in it or below it. Be careful of the elevators, you can only build so many. However, you can add cars to existing elevators, up to 9 or 10 in each. Express elevators are also extremely important. Again, be care where you place them because they do count as elevators...
Some cool items you might want to look out for are; Santa Claus and the reindeer in the sky, buried treasure, VIP's staying in a suite, fires, bomb threats, and roaches in dirty room, just to name a few.
The help feature is a wonderful tool. It can answer all of your questions, like; the number of people needed to earn new items, the number of elevators you can have, how to utilize the elevators to work the best, and how to use the windows provided.

Brother809 (10/04/2008) This game is really addicting. I got up to 4 stars and the game was too hard for me. They should make more games like this!Johnniebgoode (04/03/2008) This game is such a classic for anyone who remembers a time before PS3 and Wii. Very interactive and fun. Allows players to be creative and is appropriate for all ages.Girlgamer (01/20/2008) I loved this game when I was younger. Now it's a nice way to to relax after a stressful day.Foleymn23 (11/02/2007) I remeber playing this when I was younger and loved it, and I still love it today. Very addicting, very fun.Blackgoldkitten (07/03/2007) It is a very addictive game. But a lot of fun! I definitely recommend it to any Sim fan. The bigger the better, it gets a little difficult but very rewarding once you can add a cathedral!Dssers101 (06/15/2007) Simtower is an exellent and addicting game, simple easy and fast.Eoinq2 (04/17/2007) Fantastic Game. I'm a huge fan of the whole "Sim" series and this is one of the best ones.Jellyfishmatrix (10/04/2006) Although I haven't played SimTower, I have played Yoot Tower and can vouch for its quality. It was built on the same design as SimTower, so I imagine that it's quite similar. Yoot Tower isn't a game for everyone, in that it is somewhat unforgiving, and very difficult to pick up. The way the game works is simple enough; you build a tower. However, just breaking even in terms of finances is extremely hard, especially in the early game stages. Furthermore, quite a lot of planning must go in to the initial building process in order for anything to work later on in the progression of your tower. So, if the idea of meticulous planning for things that won't happen for several (game) years pleases you, by all means play SimTower (or Yoot Tower), but be warned that the game, although addictive, takes some getting used to before success can be had. A tutorial would have been a VERY nice feature to have included in the game. I still don't even know what half of the buttons do, which might explain my difficulties in playing the game.Special Instructions (Source: Support Team | Added on: 05/09/2007) This game requires a patch.
