If you have ever played Midtown Madness before, then you should know what Vette! is like. It's a Free World Racing game that virtually allows you to do anything, which is great if you are a casual gamer. If you didn't know already, you get to drive a Corvette in this game. You can either race the opponent or explore the city at your own pace (mainly because the game never finishes until you do). Maybe the graphics aren't even close to what Midtown Madness looks like, but that doesn't slow down Vette! from being fun.
.. Which brings me to my first problem.
Like most DOS 3D racers, Vette!'s framerate is something to be desired, but fans of classic games will just see it as the norm and others will look at it as a challenge. With all the cars and objects pushing your DOS Computer/Emulator to it's major limits, you never actually get that sense of speed in the game, which I'm pretty sure this game was promoting, but you have good control, which counts for a lot. The controls also take some getting used to, especially for modern gamers who are used to three hundred dollar wireless controllers. This is keyboard input. The game's overall difficulty is pretty hard, you definitely will find yourself being smoked by
the AI car the very first time. It is great incentive to play more and eventually get better.
Despite those flaws, Vette!, for its time, was probably one of the first 3D Free World racing games for the DOS computer. That's what makes Vette! It is so unique from others such as 4D sports Driving and Race Drivin' 98. And, personally, I think Vette is more fun than both of those games. Just as long as I have my Joystick. Anyone can enjoy this shameless advertisement for Corvettes!

I think Vette! would definitely be worth a download for the casual gamer, but if you are into intense racing, I wouldn't recommend it. This is a racing game built for fun and does not take itself too seriously.
