Game Review (written by Eric) Added on: 02/05/2008
Bass tour is a fishing game that was released in the early 90s by Dick Olsen. The game plays similarly to Bass Duel. Both games are actually part of a trilogy of Bass fishing games. This game is more of a strategy game than it is an adventure game. Both versions are fantastic at creating a magnificent fishing experience for gamers. The other game that is part of the trilogy is entitled Bass Classic.
Although Bass Duel is my favorite game in the series because it features cleaner graphics and more intuitive interface, the game Bass tour is also good and remains a popular game among fans of fishing games.
In fact, Bass tour was a pretty popular game among fishing game aficionados during the first half of the 90s. Fans loved the amount of details that Dick Olsen included in the game. Although the game was released as a shareware, the developer put in many details that real professional fishermen appreciate.
You will be playing the role of a professional fisherman who has to go against other bass fishermen in tournaments. The tourneys come with good prizes and just like real-life fishing tournaments you must have the right skills to catch the fish. First you must choose the perfect spot to stay in then you have to evaluate the weather conditions and the right type of bait to use to achieve the best results. You don’t need quick reflexes in this game but you need to be patient and play with good strategies. You must plan your fishing moves carefully as your success is dependent on a number of factors. The game gives you control of the different factors in the game. The other factors that you can not control like the weather, you have to learn to deal with.
Although the game lacked realism in terms of the graphics, the game made up for it with the real-life fishing mechanics and physics that made the game feel real. The game also featured a wide range of fish and lures making the experience feel pretty authentic. Even the fish’s behavior was realistic.
The game is played in the bird’s eye view. You can carefully plan your game with the view of the lake at the center of the screen and your options available at the sides so you can easily make decisions. Even the important information is located on the sides of the view of the lake. If you want spent your spare time with pleasure and interest this game is for you.
