For video gamers who enjoy fishing simulations, such as Black Bass or Tournament Fisherman, Big Game Fishing will be a welcome adventure. It is a unique game that offers the user a whole different breed of fishing, as well as the refreshing addition of a real story line. Big Game Fishing was written and released by Simulmondo and was released to the markets during the early nineties. I
As mentioned above, Big Game Fishing does have a real plot that does not center around a fishing tournament or a wannabe tournament fisherman.
In Big Game Fishing, the user actually plays the part of a defunct businessman who is looking for a way to rebound from his financial ruin. Desperately seeking ideas, he takes a relaxing vacation that truly does not fit into his budget. Although he much enjoys the remote island he has chosen as a fishing hot spot, he can only afford to stay for one day. However, he has learned that the harbor is a great place to sell the exotic big game fish that he catches, earning a premium for larger fish and those that are less common. As he sells his catches, he earns money.
There are plenty of expenses in Big Game Fishing, so the businessman does not have to worry about sinking
all of his fishing earnings into resuscitating his failing business. He will have to purchase lures and other tackle and fishing gear. He will have to rent a boat and pay for the fuel that will power it. He also needs licenses and can hire a guide. Failing to do any one of these things may likely result in failing at the game. For example, if the user does not have enough money to rent a boat, he will not fish and the game will be over. There is no shore fishing available in this game. If the user runs out of fuel while he is out on the water, he will have to send out an SOS for rescue, again with an unfavorable result. Of course, there is a balance to the game. The biggest and most lucrative fish are farthest away, requiring more fuel to reach them. They also tend to require better, more expensive tackle. The user will have to determine if the extra revenue is worth the expensive on his own.
Big Game Fishing is a cool and unusual fishing game that features some great and exotic fishing fun. No large mouth bass or Chinook salmon in this game! It is one to enjoy, rare as it is.
