College Slam is esentially one of the greatest NCAA basketball games from as we like to say " Back In The Day" other then NBA Jam, and NBA Jam Tournement Edition. It was one I could never put down. For the era the graphics were great, although slightly choppy at times ( IE// Dunking) it truly was one for the ages. The brand new EA sports and 2K series NCAA basketball games dont do justice to the feel and the vibe I got as a kid playing College Slam!! It's mostly about the graphics and special moves you can make with the ball, I miss the dream, I loved the dream and the feeling I got playing.
.. wanting to wear the blue and white of Duke University and go head to head with The North Carolina Tar Heels. This game made me WANT to get out of my house and play basketball, and THAT I did. I will always remember my greatest video game moment playing College Slam against my brother, he's 3 years old then I am and is a BIG University of Texas Fan, both Basketball and Football. After about 6 months of owning the game my record must have been ZERO wins and about fifty to Sixty losses. But the night I finally beat him was the BEST. 4, took the ball down court and put up a Quick Three point shot to come within one point. He drove down and tried to kill time before making a two point lay up. With two seconds remaining on the clock I sent up a prayer from just about half court and Swish, Tied the game to go into OVERTIME. We went back and forth hard for a solid 3 minutes, he would score, I would score, he'd score.. I'd score, then with the ball and about 10 seconds left I made 4 quick passes around the perimeter and then quick inside and a swift jump shot with 4 seconds left for the 2 point lead. He took the ball and quickly tried to score and the ball rimmed out and I was victorios for the first time! He couldn't live with himself after that one and tried forcing me into a rematch but I declined and ran out in celebration, When I told my dad he laughed and hugged me; I will ALWAYs remember that moment for the rest of my life. That game actually gave me to courgage to try out for my high school ball team later in life, ended up as a a starter and we won the provincial championships in 2002! Definitely 10 out of 10!
