Game Review (written by Shannon) Added on: 07/01/2008
With seemingly thousands of Formula One racing games to choose from on the market, the makers of F1 World Championship Edition had their work cut out for them when they started developing this racing simulation game. This particular game is part of a much larger series by Domark, and was released in the middle nineties. It was reworked for multiple formats, and is truly one of the better open wheeled racing games available, despite its age.
There were sixteen FIA sanctioned tracks in the year of F1 World Championship Edition’s release.
The player can drive on all sixteen of them in the game. There are three different ways to race on all of the tracks: Arcade, Training, and Racing. The Training mode is a nice way for drivers to familiarize themselves with the controls, the feel of the track, and the look of the gauges. He can play with the car’s set up so he knows better what to do once he gets to an actual race. The Arcade style of play offers the gamer a single race that is just all out fun without all of the cerebral activities involved in setting up a car. Finally, the Racing mode is very similar to a career or a campaign mode

if the user were playing a military game. It is a long running format that will take the user through all of the race tracks and will allow the user to run an entire Formula One season, starting with the very first qualifying rounds at the beginning of the racing season. For fans of the true simulation, this is the most accurate and realistic method of play offered by F1 World Championship Edition. In this particular mode, the car been be set up in fairly specific manners and can be tailored to each individual track and driving style. There are four difficulty levels that can help the user to find a comfortable play. There are also numerous options available, such as the choice between manual and automatic transmissions. The player also can adjust the number of laps in each race.
Overall, F1 World Championship Edition is a highly underrated play, as racing games go. It offers a lot of customizable features and options that will help a gamer hone it into a playable game for each individual. It features some really fun and fast paced arcade style racing action, and is recommended for racers of all ages.
