There is nothing more challenging and relaxing at the same time as a friendly game of miniature golf. While the concept is difficult, with angles and strength to be accounted for, as well as perfect timing when negotiating moving obstacles, the premise is so silly that the competitive edge of the game is often made lighter and more fun. In Fuzzy’s World of Miniature Space Golf, this idea is taken to a whole new level.
Fuzzy’s World of Miniature Space Golf was created in the middle nineties by Pixel Painters and was published by the same.
It was developed for the personal computer running the MS-DOS operating system, and it never took off on any of the other platforms available at the time. While there are adequate twists, turns and surprises in a regular game of miniature golf, Fuzzy’s World of Miniature Space Golf adds even more fun by simply taking away gravity and placing the game in space. Obviously, this game is not one for the golf expert or a serious sports enthusiast. It not only has no gravity, but being in space, it also has no weather conditions or winds to worry about either. While terribly unrealistic, the game is nothing short of really fun. You issue commands to your ball and watch
the Golden Shark come out in you as it sails to its destination…hopefully.
The fun in Fuzzy’s World of Miniature Space Golf is in the clever course design. It is always fun to make it to the next whole to see what silliness awaits you, and with different courses available, there is no shortage of challenging fun. The challenges vary according to the course. Each has a different level of gravity…one having reversed gravity…so don’t get used to making those easy chip shots. The ball is sometimes moved from place to place by flying saucers. You can choose to play a few holes or all eighteen, depending on your mood and time constraints. There is a practice mode available where you can repeatedly take stabs at those problem holes before the shots actually count.
This is a very silly, yet fun little game. The controls are easy to understand, but hard to get used to, simply because the game does not let you. With the changes in gravity, the same powered shot can be different on each hole. It is definitely worth playing for its cute cleverness, and its challenge will keep you hooked once you bring out the irons for the first time.
