Game Review 1 (written by Kdpowell33) Added on: 04/01/2007
This game was amazing! It is a wonderful adventure, and even educational. It isn't just a game for men, or for outdoor lovers, but anyone can play. I remember fighting with my little sister to fish in the best parts of the water. The game includes many different maps that you can fish in from all over the world. The ability levels vary, and you can find many different breeds of fish as well. Don't worry about the game getting boring, because there is always an even more exciting catch waiting just around the corner.

I haven't seen another game that can give me the same thrill that this one does. If you haven't experienced the anticipation of reeling

in a catch and not knowing whether or not it will be big or small, or what breed it will be, then you need to download this game.
It's also a relaxing pastime that you can enjoy when you are feeling stressed, because of work or school related projects. Thankfully, it provides an escape from endless snow during the winter months. When you can't fish because of the weather, just play this game! I have recommended this game to my friends and family and even strangers, just because it's so fun. The graphics are pretty nice, and the overall feel of the game creates warmth and comfort. The game strives to be realistic in the sense of fishing, so don't be discouraged, if you download the game and it takes you a bit to learn where to fish, or if it takes you a while to actually catch something.
This game is probably not for the people that love fast, action-packed games that can get your adrenaline pumping. But, if you are willing to wait, the thrill of the catch by far makes up for the slow action. If you are even half-way convinced to download this game, just do it and give it a try. "Gone Fishin" is cute and well worth your time.

Game Review 2 (written by Endoundah) Added on: 04/01/2007
Without question my favorite game of all time, not to mention the most realistic fishing simulation ever made for any system. You must use weather and structure to find the species of your choice. I've caught some huge fish, but I’ve also put in many hours - still have yet to figure how to land the huge ones (from time to time, you'll get a bite and drag will scream out - at which point you must either tighten drag and snap line, or have your reel stripped clean - who knows what those fish are!)
Some random tips and ideas for all of you serious fisherman: Always use the strongest line/rood/reel, and pretty much always fish in overcast and breezy weather. Avoid the middle of the summer unless you are bass fishing. Also if you're looking for the big ones, set your skill level at professional. I've caught far more walleyes and northerns in the 20 ft depths surrounding off shore humps using the small bucktail jig. Always modify your tacklebox before you head out too, the default gives you some bogus items.
In my opinion the quickest way to find fish is to cast a crankbait - this allows you to just steadily retrieve and make lots of casts in a short amount of time - things like spinnerbaits also work well for this. When fish are found, then switch to something slower like the bucktail jig and pay close attention to keep it within a few feet of bottom to catch walleyes. Also, if you want any real chance to break the impossibly hard fish total records in the lodge, you'll need to do lots of saving and loading game to create a composite stringer of slobs.
There are a few slightly weird things with this game I have found, though they are greatly overshadowed by the overall kickassness of the rest of the game. For one, the sonar does not appear to do anything other than let know if there are 4 (great), 2 (poor), 0 (no chance) "dots" which represent the supposed quantity of fish underneath you. Though your casts show up on the sonar, hitting the dots, or casting near them doesn't lead to more fish, nor does it tell you how deep the fish are, it's kind of a bizarre system really. Also it is odd that there isn't any water deeper than 20 feet, it does limit the fishing depths, but it is kind of odd.
All in all though, my favorite game of all time.

Fishing game for people who like to fish. Maps of lakes are a cool feature to show where you can find the big fish.
