Well, there are quite a few qualities that I did like about Grand Prix Manager II which do outshine one, but it still does hold glitches that the first installment did not include. Building up your race team as a manager rather than a racer is quite fun, but I do prefer taking the circuit rather than being the one who gives the orders. I like to control the car, but for a game where budget is most important rather than your driver skill, then you just have to depend on the luck of your driver to get you through and your financial skills.
I wouldn't recommend the game to a hard-time Formula 1 fan that is looking to race it out on the track, because you can't do that on this particular game, you rather manage the team than drive for them. However, those interested in finding out what it's like to be in the seat of the team owner, I would recommend this game to. If you're looking for a game where you have better intelligence of settings, car qualities, ect then this is a game that I'd recommend, but if you have racing experience then I'd probably go for games like F1 Career Challenge, F1 2002, Grand Prix 2, ect. As for a team management game, it is quite great where it includes the many fundamentals
that teams look at such as driver skill, testing, building facilities, keeping up the budget, doing what's in the best interest of the team, testing, insurance, purchasing tire, fuel, ect., making loans, building your next year's car chassis, building devices which you think will be used in the future, ect where you have to decide how to guide your team to victory even after the previous year ends. It has great gameplay as well sound effects, but the graphics could be tuned up a bit, but for a game designed back in 1996, this is understandable. If you really want a challenge on the game then try managing three or four teams at once and trust me, it isn't easy. All in all, I'd give this game 8.5/10 for a rating.
