Game Review (written by Lindsay2) Added on: 11/23/2007
Ian Botham’s Cricket was created after the famous cricket player, Ian Botham. This game is not to be confused by EA games version that came out in 1996. The game offers a split level screen, kind of like the screen in the Nintendo game mariokart racing. The difference is that it shows two angles of play, one from behind the pitchers back and the other from behind the batters back. The graphics in this game are good, but they could be better with the technology out there now.

You don’t need a special controller to play this game as it uses simple combination of keystrokes to make the moves. With the view of the screen being split in the manner it is, it can be a little confusing because the players don’t just stand there, they run back and forth across the screens in opposite directions. Of course, the more fancy the move, the harder it is to perform with the keyboard.
This game does not have a tournament mode, so you just play matches. The list of names for the roster has some good names on it. The list contains names of famous players from late 80s to early 90s, which should keep cricket fans happy for a few games. You basically just pick your two teams, the lineup, and just go at it with your opponent or the computer.
Since the game is pretty basic in both graphics and game play, you may or may not like it. The game is just for those who would like to have a quick game of cricket since it does not have the option of playing tournaments. If you do happen to like this game, you should also try Allan Border’s Cricket, World Cricket, or the 1996 version of this game made by EA games, which has better graphics.
