Game Review (written by Dbacks1111) Added on: 02/23/2007
This game is a classic! I owned all the versions throughout the years starting With Micro League Baseball 1 for the Commodore 64. Even back then the strategy aspects were great. Micro league Baseball 2 and Micro League Baseball - Managers Challenge each expanded on the basic idea.
The final version was Micro League Baseball 4 and had better graphics and more teams to choose from. You could play current teams or classic teams from the past. Team disks were available separately. So, you could get rosters from your favourite team; even if your favourite team wasn't very good. I had a team disk of the Seattle Mariners. At the time they had never had a winning season, but since I grew up following them it was fun to pit them against the 1927 New York Yankees, National League All Stars, American League All Stars etc.
The final version also allowed you to download stats from USA Today for the current season. This was before everyone in the world had a modem, but I was a nerd and used this feature as well. You could also simulate entire seasons which was fun; since playing out 162 game seasons can only be accomplished so many times for a game that takes about 30 mins to complete.
At the time I would have rated this game a 10. It kept me busy for hours and hours and hours during my adolescent years. Now the graphics are nothing compared to anything today, but it is still a fun game because of the strategy.
