This classic Dos game really is only for those of you who have played it before and loved the simplicity of it.
The graphics (even for their time) are poor, but when the game could run on something not much more powerful than a calculator what do you expect! The sound also is poor but of course this owes to the fact that only pc speaker is available. Despite this though the appearance of the courses is still sufficient to make playing the game easy and the sound is easily turned off.

Despite this though the appearance of the courses is still sufficient to make playing the game easy and the sound is easily turned off. You can see a fly-by of each hole before it is played as well as Ball Lie, Overhead View, Green View and other options to be able to assess exactly what shot
is needed.
The reason this game has any appeal though is that it is the simplest golf game to play and pioneered the now widely used "3 mouse click" swing action. You have to make allowance for wind speed and direction, simple to use club selection (you are given things such as distance to pin and distance of each club prior to each shot) and of course avoid the many hazards.
There are 4 courses to choose from all of which offer varying degrees of difficulty and full tournament options. When competing in a tournament you can use up to four players whilst competing against a full line up of pro players. The tournament consists of 4 rounds of the chosen course and even includes the "cutting" of players who's scores are too high to continue in the tournament.
At the end of each tournament a full money winners list and stats are available to look at and the game does keep a running total of tournaments entered, your results, your statistics and those of the pros also.
I first played this game when I was still in primary school on my very first pc, an old 386sx with 4MB Ram!!! The game has that addictive quality that so many simple games have which is what has kept me coming back. I might not play the game for a few years but then I will remember it and go searching the net for a download of it so that I can scratch that itch again. In all the times I have played this game I have hit many Hole-in-One's and this alone can serve as plenty of motivation to keep playing this legend of golfing games. If you know what I mean or are just curios, download now and give it a go.
