Game Review (written by Nosalis) Added on: 12/19/2006
It's a racing game, which has impressed me with the level of realism at that time. The graphic at that time was something you've never seen before. It's 3d.
In the game, there are 8 tracks and you can choose from 15 various cars - from a normal civil, to Porsche speedster up to a military hummer. Even a Truck is not a problem. This variety of the choice in cars I find quite unique.
To drive the cars I find it easy, though sometimes the reaction is quite slow.
The style of the driving I found quite realistic. So it was a change to the other Arcade games like Ignition etc. And after you finished your race, you can see the replay of how successful you were in the race.
But was really cool feature was, that if you had a friend, you can play together in a split screen mode :) the only problem was that at that time keyboard response was quite slow, so it happened a lot of times, that you wanted to steer but your partner blocked the keyboard, so you cannot have great fun
The camera in the game is nearly top-down view. Which I like a lot and I find it much more interesting that nowadays camera in the racing games. You have well over view of the whole race and you can pleasure your eyes with the nice environment around. Together with that - variety in the environment made this game on of my most favourite games. It would be so great if there will be some remake of this game, because I think this game deserves that.
Overall, Rush Hour is a very good racing game that is still in my heath and no other game like this was made up until today. And especially today with the graphic performance which we have it would be great to see it running!
Some might say that the bird view camera is not good to play and it would be better to have 3rd person camera view or even maybe a cockpit view. But I'm from the old school and I really liked it, that it was different... Different that test drives, different that ignition.
I give it 10 stars from 10, because it was the best racing game I played at that time. The graphic was really stunning, great fun to play. If I would find something that I didn't like about this game, it's only one thing... And that it the difficulty. It was really hard and if you made a mistake or two, it was hard to catch up.
