Game Review (written by Eric) Added on: 03/07/2008
Test Drive: Offroad is a driving competition game that takes place off-road. In this game you will drive a powerful truck on different tracks. The tracks can be in a snowy land, muddy roads and other challenging terrains. The game was released by Accolade in the 90s.
The game is the third game from the Test Drive franchise. Offroad features better graphics than the first two games. The trucks feature some pretty radical designs that really made the game fun and exciting. There are four trucks that you can choose from.
The first truck is the H1 Hummer. The other trucks are the Jeep Wrangler, the Land Rover and the Chevy Truck. The trucks have different types of designs that you can choose from. The trucks also have different attributes and you can choose the kind of truck you want which you think can help you perform the best. Each vehicle requires different handling so your performance in the game would depend not just on the trucks but on how you drive them.
There are two hidden trucks: a dune buggy and a monster truck that will be revealed to the player if he does really well in the game. These trucks definitely add to the whole off-road experience. The soundtrack is also a lot more engaging and interesting. It features some catchy songs that really got you pumped for the game. The game features some really interesting alternative music that added to the whole atmosphere of the game.
The controls are solid and react fast so the game may not be the most sophisticated race game released during that time but the game was pretty solid and smooth. The game features about twelve different tracks. One of the interesting features of the game is how you can leave the tracks to go and explore the other areas in the game. Of course this will lose you some precious time and may prevent you from winning the game but it does make for some great journey.
What makes this game extremely fun is the fast pace of the game. Even if you have an accident on the tracks, your truck will turn into the upright position and you can easily resume with the race.
I recommend this for any gamer even those who aren’t really into car races. This game will provide anyone with several hours of gaming fun each time. The game really gets your adrenaline pumping.
