Twisted Metal 2 is one of the greatest car destruction games ever invented from my perspective. It brought a new dimension to car games. The story itself is the same as the original. A bunch of racers enter into a tournament in which they fight in a deathmatch style arena to obtain the ultimate prize. Anything they wish for!
Gameplay
The game is well designed with an array of different weapons and vehicles, each with their own special characteristics. This makes the game a lot more fun as you can go through the game as each of the characters to find out what they wish for in the end.
And to make things even better, there are two secret characters in the game, both of which are from the first installation of Twisted Metal.
Graphics
The graphics are what you would expect from the time period. Low poly, low textured and some pretty lame special effects, but for the time that it was made, the game was top notch and still is, in my eyes.
Sound
The sound in Twisted Metal makes the game a whole new experience. There is just no way it would be the same without it. In the game the weapons, the cars and the enemies all make their own unique sounds. In some cases you could do without them and in others (for instance explosions) make you keep wanting to play the game and cause as much
destruction as possible.
Longevity
The game is the same with each character (besides the ending) so there are some issues with longevity and the lifespan of the game. But the two player aspect of Twisted Metal 2 can generate hours of fun for you and a mate. Also there are many hidden things to find like, hidden areas, hidden things to blow up and even hidden attacks. So you should have absolutely no problem getting your moneys worth out of this game because there are so many things you can do.
Overall
The game is great overall. Some good graphics (for the time), some awesome sounds, all combined with the destruction and anarchy of homing missiles and napalm is enough to get you going with ease. And there are heaps of unlockables and hidden features in the game as well, which are another thing that keeps you going back for more.
All in all a great game and a classic for those who played when they were young.
