UEFA Champions League 1998-99

I cannot remember exactly when I played this game first. It was so long ago, possibly either in the year 1989 or 1990, when I had my Commodore 64. I think that this game was one of the best for football games at the time. It was one of the best of its time and had the controls and game playability that all others lacked in terms of playing football. It was like the real game, where all European football teams competed for the biggest prize.

The game playability was so good, because you could kick the ball from a side on view, tackle, dribble, run or shoot from a distance and even curl or bend. The graphics might have seen a bit basic at the time, but it always prompted you to come back and play for more. It was like an addictive game and I usually found it much easier to score on the computer than in real life.
The overall coverage was so good too, with all the things you could ever ask for, like the penalties they had in the end if the full ninety minutes was over and no team scored or if both teams had both drawn. The referee would show you a yellow card, if you went in for a tackle a bit strong or even a red card, if you tried to completely bring down any other player on the field.
The free kicks were so funny and you could even try swerving the ball or bending it over the wall. I think the only down side was the control of the goalkeepers which was a bit funny. Every time I tried doing it, I always gave the ball to the opposition. At least the kicking was good. I also liked the corners too and I always noticed that, if you got at least a fair way in front of goal, you always had a good chance to shoot and score without fail.
I really liked this game at the time, as it brought all of my friends around the house. We enjoyed it so much.
