Game Review (written by Eric) Added on: 01/04/2008
It is one of the best games released during that year. You are to play the role of Christopher Columbus in this game that was set in the fifteenth century. As discoverer of the new world, you travel all over the world from your homeland Spain and go on one great adventure. Imagine yourself being in the high seas in the fifteenth century dealing with natives from other lands, trading with different nations and basically changing the world economy. It’s an extremely insightful and enjoyable game that successfully brings you back in time.

Before you go on your adventure, you must make sure you have enough resources to last you through your whole voyage. When you face the court, you must make sure you will be awarded extra funding for your voyage so come prepared. As you go on your voyage, you must decide the best items to bring because you can not bring unlimited resources.
When you chance upon land, you can decide to conquer this land or just do business with the natives. It is up to you to create history. You can decide how to best utilize the different lands for the benefit of your voyage. Of course not all the time, you can choose to just trade with the natives because your commercial transactions with a particular village will depend on the openness of the chief to transact with you. There will also be instances when you are not careful, that the villagers might become hostile towards you especially when you injure of kill some of them as they bump onto you. You can even choose to bribe the natives. You can be completely creative in your quest which is why this game is so fun and interesting. You can also choose to just massacre everyone which as we all know is what often happened in the whole course of history.
The first time I got to experience this game it was unlike any of the other games I was used to playing. When I rediscovered it recently I found that it is still perfectly capable of providing non-stop gaming fun. This is definitely a game I am keeping in my hard drive for a very long time along with the other mode modern adventure games and other classic ones. This is an excellent strategy game.

Played this game repeatedly growing up, enjoyed it immensely. Deep exploration of the world, careful management of resources, worry about your 'reputation' with the various tribes, and to top it all off, mutiny and disease. What could be better than that?
