Genre:  Strategy    |     Year: 1997    |     Publisher: Microsoft     |     Developer: Atomic Games, Inc.
Game Review (written by Eric) Added on: 03/03/2008
The game will have you playing the commander of an allied force. Set during the World War II, you can play as the Germans or as the Allies. The Allied Forces are divided into the US Army, British Army and Polish Forces. The game was released on September 30, 1997 by Atomic Games for Windows and Macintosh.
The game is played in the top down view. Combats take place on a map with 3-D terrain.
The game is so realistic that it features bloody battlefields with supporting sound effects that really project the atmosphere of being in a war.
You will hear machine guns, the screams of men, and other sounds that really complete the war atmosphere of the game.
The game has incredible AI that adds to the realism of the game. Your troops can suffer from fatigue, have limited ammunition and other limitations that are very realistic.
Your troops will not necessarily follow you when you make them do something unreasonable because of the AI will prevent them from following you. The troops will naturally stay away from the enemy.
The game has great graphics that even if the map is just 2-dimensional with 3-D elements, the game looks rich and nice. Together with the excellent sounds, the game really takes in and lets you experience the war.
The game can be played with single player or by

multiple players. There are two categories of units, the infantry and support. The infantry contains infantry units like snipers, scouts, and others while the support category has the machine gun teams and others.
Combats are done in a single setting and it can last for a couple of minutes. Once you declare ceasefire then the battle ends immediately until your troops fully recuperate. You can also end the battle by retreating from it. This also ends the combat. There are different objectives for the battles for getting German Troops off the bridge and other areas of the map. When you engage in full operation, you will have to complete up to five battles. These battles can last in the game for several days. Your goal will be to control the different locations in the map. If you don’t take control of the whole map you will still be given points based on the locations under your control.
The game can be extremely fun especially for those who enjoy a good strategy game.
