The first game in the Command and Conquer series which was first released way back in 1995, was the bench mark for all real time strategy games.
In Command and Conquer you have the choice of taking control of one of two sides, The Allies (the good guys) and NOD (the bad guys).
Both teams have a different story and missions which give you reason to play from both teams and there are over 15 missions for each team.
Each team also has different units and buildings that are available for you to create (as long as you have the funds).
In a lot of the missions that you do you will need to build a base, create funds by building Tiberium factories and build at least 1 power plant so you can supply power to your base.
There are also many cutscenes (which have some quite convincing actors) before each mission giving you a basic run down of your objectives.
So that is the basic run down of the game now to actually reviewing the game, graphically the game is what you would expect for a real time strategy game. Nothing outstanding graphically true but then even though they are very simple they are still fairly smooth but once you over look the graphics the gameplay is very deep and immersing.
There is nothing like
building a huge army (which can take a bit of time and money) and going into the enemy territory and obliterating them. But on the other hand there are a few missions that are more difficult than I would have liked due to having only a limited troop amount and/or funds.
The sound effects are average and sometimes can be a bit repetitive and also can be slightly annoying when you are continuously told that your " unit is ready" or " unit lost " when in the middle of a battle when you are fully aware that you will lose troops but on the other hand this can also be kinda helpful when one (or more) of your team (like your Tiberium truck) is getting attacked while you are off doing something else.
The controls are also very standard for RTS with most of the work being done by the mouse to select/unselect troops, build/sell or repair buildings another good thing is that you can set short cut keys so you can just push 1 button to select a group of solders or tanks (that honestly will save time when in multiple battles).
Again though you have to remember that the game was created back in '95 and so if you are into the classic real time strategy game you could do much worse than Command and Conquer.
All in all I give the game 9/10.
