Conqueror AD 1086

Conqueror 1086 AD is a classic game that despite being somewhat buggy and some seemingly hastily put together aspects of the game was truly an engaging game that offered a lot of variety.
One of the great things about this game was creating your own character, and personalizing it through a decision making process that would improve or devalue his statistics. The stories that the creators came up with in that aspect of the game was truly fun. After this was done, you started off in a little fiefdom and where you headed from there was totally up to you.

You could travel from tournament to tournament, winning melees and jousts. Meeting the fellow tournament goers proved to be interesting, and depending on how you interacted with them, it could prove to be troublesome too. I found myself in a bar fight with one of the knights, where I knifed my way to victory. The detail to this part of the game, which is to say the characters and their nuance and personality, was really pleasing to unravel and take part in. It also proved to be key to seeing certain parts of the game through to completion. For example in the jousting you can wear the colors of the lady of whom you want, and by winning in the jousting you score points in there book now whether this is serious romantic interest or to further a goal you have in mind it was up to you. They often give rewards for winning, and if you try hard enough you can win their hand in marriage. This route of play put one in line with the story of the dragon, and with enough prying and searching and talking, you could find yourself with all you needed to slay the dragon and become the king's champion.
Or if being second hand man to royalty isn't enough, you can instead work to build up your fief, and overthrow him. This takes a fair bit of work. You need to build up your land getting mines of coal, gold, silver; harvesting lumber; planting fruit vegetables and grain; raising livestock in essence everything you need to build up a large city. On top of all this there is a castle to be built, with towers, wells, walls, stables and more; and also a town with different services for your growing number of citizens. Then there was the army to build, knights, plowman, and swordsman. Field battles to win, castles to storm, and men to slay in hand to hand combat treasuries to pillage, and the list goes on.
Aside from the game play the cinematic sequences in the game were great, and the voice acting really added to it. Also the music was original, orchestrated, and really catchy. The sound effects were also pretty good for it's time, and though some of it was choppy or fuzzy looking, often the detail that was added was surprising.
All in all, this game is great and fun! I highly recommend downloading it! You’ll be impressed and delighted!
