Game Review (written by Chrissi) Added on: 11/21/2007
Empire Deluxe is a turn-based strategy game where you are attempting to seize all cities. The maps are generated maps using air, land, and sea forces, which will be protecting your city from enemies. Each map has a few neutral cities. You and your enemies will each have one neutral city to start with. Over a few turns units can build in cities depending on the value of each unit. Each city has the capability to produce one unit at a time.
The army is the most basic unit.
The army can be used to capture enemies and neutral cities by landing from a transport or attacking over land. Armies can be transported over water by transports. Transports are vital to defeat the cities overseas. There are several units patrolling the seas and intercept transports. These units consist of the destroyers, cruisers, and battleships. In some levels of the game, submarines, aircraft, and carriers will available and are an addition to the strategy of the game.
Empire Deluxe is quite simple to learn and play. There are many different playing styles each requiring a new strategy. The manual contains a tutorial for each scenario which helps you learn the game. It is definitely worth reading if you are learning the game.
Empire Deluxe doesn’t have coverage over the map making it that you and the computer are able to see the entire battlefield and every single enemy movement throughout the entire game. This makes combat a little harder, since you are unable to sneak up on your enemy. You are able to play multiplayer over the internet or on the same computer with a friend. There are a number of internet communities allowing you to find other people to play with online.
The game can be quite difficult in a few ways. With the ability to see everything and only being able to create one unit at a time, the game will become quite long to create a huge and strong team. You must have a bit of time to complete the game. Empire Deluxe is without a doubt a great version for a war game. The graphics are basic for the year of creation, but not dull in any way. You will be impressed with the game in itself and the level of strategizing it does require.
If you enjoy competitive war games, Empire Deluxe is a great game for you. There are so many great aspects about this game you will find yourself playing it over and over. Each game you play will be different every time. You will decide how the game plays out depending on the amount of effort you put into the creation of your team. You will not be disappointed with this game in any sort of way. It’s time to start conquering the world and take a turn at Empire Deluxe.
