Game Review (written by Eric) Added on: 03/25/2008
Global domination is a strategy game that was released in 1993. The game is a turn-based game based on the popular board game entitled Risk.
Your ultimate goal as the name suggests is to conquer the world. You need to play a popular historical figure and then engage in wars to conquer the world. Among the historical figures that you can play are: Napoleon, Abraham Lincoln, Atilla the Hun, Julius Ceasar and others. Each character has its own personality and attributes that affect how the game is played.
At the start of the game, you will be given random territories. You will also be given points that can be used to build units, to do research and others. Then you can already start to conquering different territories. You can choose to conquer neutral territories in the map first or conquer enemy territories right away.
The graphics of the game is dated but it’s not disappointing. You just have to keep in mind that the game was created more than a decade ago so you can’t expect high graphics. The colors are vivid and the graphics is really good enough to keep you interested in the game.
The sound of the game was also pretty impressive. It added to the whole feel of the game and really pulled you into the game.
The best aspect of the game is still the game play. The game is interesting because it has some pretty interesting concepts introduced in simple terms. It’s not just all about tactical combat, the game actually allows you to engage in diplomacy and other methods to push for your interest. You can have enemies as well as allies. You can also use spies to spy on your enemies.
You need to build a strong army with different unit types. You need to choose good countries to conquer. The best countries that you can conquer are those that are rich in resources. The game is composed of 20 missions but you can create your own missions with the game editor. The game also has a multi-player option so that makes the game more fun.
The game is good enough for days when you have nothing else better to do but I wouldn’t call this game a brilliant game. It’s fun and simple and it will keep you busy for many hours but it’s not the type of game you would count as a favorite since there are other turn-based strategy games that are more engaging and fun.
