At the start you are presented with a large strategic map which are divided into squares. Each square has a province which you must battle on the tactical map. In each battle you must take your warriors and conquer your way through the map picking up other leaders each with their own personalities of their own. Resistance comes in the form of other leaders who command their own armies.
When I say armies, you may think of masses of troops but in reality each leader commands "squads" of troops which can be split up, rejoined, sent off to a particular location and fight etc.

The game features nicely done speech
and sound effects, good for their time.
The game didn’t feature power ups or weapon upgrades or anything like that, but the gameplay was riveting and addictive. Unlike its other inspired game, populous, and its sequel populous 2, the game didn’t feature "miracles" because it isn’t really a god game or god simulator which those other two games are. The troops you command had their own levels of behaviour ranging from courageous to sycophantic and performed accordingly in battle.
The game featured a kind of time limit where you must keep battling the opposing forces constantly otherwise you would find your troops routing and stuff. There was no buildings to construct in the game. It was a fairly simplistic battle game in a kind of rts style play though it was very addictive. However the gameplay doesn’t change much from battle to battle as it all seems a bit repetitive after a while so I cant vouch for its long term appeal.
Overall I give this game nine out of ten for graphics for the time and a ten out of ten for sound. for game play I give it eight out of ten and for lasting appeal I give it six out of ten.
