Game Review (written by Eric) Added on: 03/17/2008
The game Rival Realms is real time strategy game that has a fantasy theme. The game was not very popular when it was released in the 90s, but it is pretty well-made with an interesting plot, good graphics and good music.
The game has four difficulty levels that you can choose from. If you are going to play alone, you can choose to play one of the three campaigns that is meant to be played by single players. There are three races in the game: the humans, elves, and green-skin creatures.
Each of the races has its own attributes. The green-skin creatures are very strong. They may not be technologically superior but they are perfect for combat situations. The elves are magical creatures. The humans have their own strengths and weaknesses themselves.
Once you have chosen a race to play, you can build and develop your territory from the twelve different buildings that you can build and the fourteen different types of military units. You need to build your own strong army. You must build strong units, each unit comes with its own inventory and also has its own attributes. Your ground troops have pockets that can be filled with different items. Your units can also gain experiences making this strategy game similar to a role playing game.
The game also features multi-player capability of up to eight players but your biggest challenge regarding this feature is actually finding seven other players who would want to play the game with you at the same time.
One great feature of the game is how you can save your units which you can use in future games. This makes the game more interesting and fun and lets you have great fun as you play the game more.
The game also features a game editor so that you can create your own custom levels. If you are unsatisfied with the challenges in the levels that are available you can create your own levels.
All in all, really nice game, worth downloading.
