Game Review (written by Eric) Added on: 03/12/2008
Star Command Deluxe is a real time strategy game that was released in the 90s. It is a well made strategy game that has earned a good following.
There are four races in the Star Command: The Nomads, the Triumverates , the Nomads and the Terrans. The ships of every race have their own ability and styles but you can easily design a ship from a different race once you have researched the technology that goes behind it. Each race has a specific resource that it needs so you only need to focus on mining the resources that your race needs. But a fifth element called Solinite is needed by all the four races so it is a very important mineral. The Solinite can be found in yellow warp clouds and you need to create a scout ship than can attack these yellow clouds so you can mine the special minera.
At the start of the game you will begin with a control of your mother ship. It is only the mother ship that will have the capacity to build stations and other infrastructures in your area.
The game has a very simple interface so its really very easy to control your mother ship and the other ships. It’s so easy to issue commands and attack orders to your ships because you only need to use your mouse and click on the box on the screen.
You have to make sure that your mother ship is not destroyed. When your mother ship is destroyed it becomes more difficult to win the game because it limits your capacity to build stations and other infrastructures that will help you defeat the enemy. The only way you can win after your mother ship is destroyed is if you have already built ample infrastructures to kill off your enemy. The mother ship is actually pretty difficult to destroy so it’s not that difficult to defend it.
You will find some resources on the screen and when you drag your mother ship to the location of these resources a small collecting equipment will come out of the ship and pick up the resource. The equipment will then come back inside the mother ship. Collecting is actually automatic so this saves you plenty of time and saves you the hassle of micromanagement. You just need to make sure your mother ship is not destroyed and you will be able to mine resources with ease. You just need to focus on your strategy to win the game.
