World at War Series - Operation Crusader, Stalingrad is a World War 2 strategy game based in Russia. You are Russians and your goal is to fight of the Axis in an attempt to save your homeland. The game offers hours of excitement and doesn't get old, luckily. It is a real time strategy game; therefore, yours and your enemies' players move at the same time. This is one of the best WWII games if you are a fan. You organize your defensive strategies and offensive strategies.
There are many factors which affect the outcome of the game such as weather and stress of soldiers among other things. The game does well with concealing the enemies' moves. You only realize that they are near when they come within seing distance of your troops. It is a basic "fog of war" concept. This game offers hours of playing time, and many new experiences each time you play for a maximum replay level. The AI of the enemy is very well programmed. They offer a challenge, while at the same time keeping it a fun experience for you, the player. I am sort of reminded of Red Alert when I play this game.
When I first began
playing the game, I found that the mechanics and controls of the game were simple to use. It was easy to get into a game easy to learn how to play. Within minutes I was gaining troops and building structures. The battles in the game can get very intense, and this is where the fun-ness factor is the most important. Not only does the game look and run good, it is very intuitive and fun. This game goes beyond the classic "You have a goal and you must achieve it" style of other cojplex strategy games. While attaining your goal of victory over the Axis you get to have a great experience while crushing your enemy.
When your campaign games get very involved, it is often difficult to keep track of your troops. Many people say that unless you are good at remembering, you should have a pencil and paper nearby to write down some information. It is a lesson in microadministration at its best. Other than the difficulty with managing your troops in bigger games, the game is great and I recommend it to anyone who enjoys millitary games, or even just strategy style games. I was not a big fan of military strategy games until I began playing this.
