I personally enjoyed Bannermania very much. When I compare Bannermania to other games, I must say the graphics are somewhat primitive. Of course, that is to be expected. It isn't exactly a "game" in the fullest sense of the word. It's more of a graphics designing application, like Adobe Photoshop. It is surprisingly comprehensive as far as old programs go.
One thing that annoyed me, though, was that it was too "cutesy," but that is just my own personal taste. What I loved about Bannermania was the ability to make a banner for just about anything.
I recall having a row with my parents and then taping a banner up to their bedroom door which displayed an obscenity. Another thing that I enjoyed was how incredibly simple it was to use. During an age where the concept of division completely mystified me, this game was so incredibly easy to install and play that I felt a generous swelling of pride. What is funny is that this program has limitless potential, giving it amazing "replay value," a quality many modern games are lacking. Even though it is what one might call "ancient," it runs on Windows XP, so this game spans generations of computers. Even better, it runs on modern printers, so the blocky, pastel-colored graphics look spectacular if you have a high-end printer.
This
game is great for kids. It allows them to practice spelling, art, and appreciation for the aesthetic. Zero violence, no obscene material, no sexuality. Anything dirty that makes it into this game has to be made by those who utilize this outstanding application.
